Reviewed 14 October 2018 We arrived after a long drive at la Grande Maison in the middle of the night, despite this the owners woke up, put the kettle on and made a cuppa and settled our family of five in. We were also bowled over by the welcome hamper of cheese, fruit, wine and other provisions. Mary and John the owners went above and beyond to be really helpful we didn't have one dull day as they advised us on the best activities to do during the day including fabulous sandy beaches, and boating on the stunning Lac de Guerledan. In the evenings there was plenty to do on the property including a fab hot tub to keep the kids entertained. The house is a traditional French farm house, really spacious and brilliantly equipped we wanted for nothing. A week wasn't long enough we will definitely return again and probably take our dogs as there is loads of walking and the teenagers next time as there is plenty to entertain all ages. Overall one of the best holidays we have ever had, I would highly recommend!
We are two minutes walk from a lively village centre. Two bars specialising in lunch time fare and a handy shop for freshly baked bread and daily needs. Close to Lac de Guerledan, ideal for boating, walking and fishing with a choice of bars and restaurants overlooking the water. The historic town of Pontivy is a 10 minute drive with excellent shopping and yet more restaurants boasting international cuisine as well as local dishes. Nearby places of interest are Concarneau, Josselin, Vannes, Auray and the famous Standing Stones at Carnac which pre-date the Pyramids by thousands of years. Easy reach of three very different coastlines, sandy beaches to the south, rocky coves to the north and west.
Son et Lumière Over several evenings in early August each year there is a stunning display at the nearby Abbey of Bon Repos. An ancient abbey under restoration where the history is depicted in light and sound. It really is a sight to see! Come back to a wonderful bubbly relaxation in the hot tub […]
